Kogi State Reinforces Safety with 49 New Security Vehicles, Celebrates Shared Commitment

In a landmark ceremony at Government House, Lokoja, Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo handed over 49 security vehicles to various agencies across Kogi State, marking a significant upgrade to the state’s security infrastructure.

Governor Ododo praised the Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund for his relentless efforts to curb crime within the state.

He made the remarks while overseeing the flag‑off of refurbished vehicles and motorcycles destined for security agencies at the Glass House in Lokoja, the state capital.

The governor stressed that security is a collective duty, stating, “Your sacrifices and contributions reflect a deep understanding that security is a shared responsibility.”

He explained that the vehicle distribution stems from the state government’s deliberate investment in modernising and strengthening the security framework, adding, “We are beginning to see the result of our deliberate investment in training and modernizing the security framework of our state.”

Governor Ododo also thanked citizens who donated vehicles and resources, saying, “It is heart‑warming to see more citizens rise to this occasion.”

He extended his appreciation to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, noting, “I also want to appreciate Mr. President for being very wonderful to us in Kogi State. We in Kogi State appreciate him and continue to show gratitude.”

In his opening address, AVM Omeiza Umar Rtd, Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund, commended Governor Ododo for his steadfast fight against crime, remarking, “This is a practical demonstration of the governor’s unwavering commitment to ensuring that every corner of Kogi State remains secure.”

He affirmed that the Trust Fund remains dedicated to mobilising resources and providing sustainable support for security agencies, highlighting the newly established logistics hub as the nerve centre for its operations.

The Chairman called on government bodies, corporations, and individuals to contribute generously to the State Security Trust Fund, stating, “Together, we can build a stronger foundation for the safety and security of our state.”

He also praised the dedication of security personnel, saying, “It is our collective duty to continue to support and motivate them.”

Special Adviser to the governor on Security matters Commander Jerry Omodara (RTD) urged the beneficiaries to use the vehicles responsibly and maintain them properly, emphasizing that the state government will spare no effort to rid the state of crime.

On behalf of the beneficiaries, Kogi State Commissioner of Police Nasiri Bello expressed gratitude to the state government and the Trust Fund for the provision, pledging that all vehicles and motorcycles would be put to good use.

Governor Ododo noted the strong synergy among security agencies, led by the Commissioner of Police, saying, “I appreciate all the security agencies they are working together in synergy, that is why you can see us moving well.”

The fleet comprised 12 refurbished vehicles, 10 donated vehicles, and 27 motorcycles.

The Governor urged the agencies to employ the vehicles for their intended purpose, stating, “Let it be used for the purpose it was created for.”
