The Executive Chairman of the Kogi State Security Trust Fund (KGSSTF), AVM Umar Omeiza Farouk (Rtd), held a high-level meeting with the NDLEA Kogi State Command Headquarters in Lokoja on February 12, 2025. This strategic engagement reinforces the government’s commitment to combating drug abuse and trafficking, major contributors to crime in the state.
Given Kogi State’s strategic position as a transit hub for illicit drug trafficking, the Executive Chairman reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting the NDLEA with enhanced logistics and operational efficiency to curb drug-related crimes.
The NDLEA Commander, Umar Mustapha Yahuza, appreciated KGSSTF’s efforts, particularly in refurbishing operational vehicles and providing other vital assistance. However, he emphasized the urgent need for better rehabilitation centers and more resources to aid in the treatment and recovery of individuals affected by substance abuse.
Beyond enforcement, sustainable rehabilitation and skill acquisition programs are crucial in the fight against drug abuse. Establishing modern rehabilitation centers equipped with counseling services, medical treatment, and vocational training will help rehabilitated individuals reintegrate successfully into society, reducing the chances of relapse.
KGSSTF remains dedicated to fostering partnerships that ensure a safer Kogi State. Together, we can defeat drug abuse and build a more secure future.
